Abstract: Modern family, as a mirror of the social structure, characterized by egalitarianist family relations, changes in role structure, formal nature of leadership men, the substitution of paternal authority, maternal [6; 7; 8; 14]. The study of the phenomenon of family consciousness of a man reveals the peculiarities of the men's awareness of himself as a family member and the subject of family relations. The aim of the study is to study the structure and content of the family consciousness of men. Fundamental to this research is the idea of subject-activity (A. V. Brushlinsky, S. L. Rubinstein) and student centered (K.A. Abulkhanova-Slavskaya, A. G. Asmolov, A. A. Bodalev, A. V. Petrovsky, K. Rogers, A. Maslow) approaches; conceptual views on identity as central component of an individual (B. S. Bratus, I. S. Kon, A. N. Leontiev, V. S. Mukhina, V. V. Stolin, E. V. Shorokhova); key provisions in the field of family studies and family relations (J. E. Aleshina, A. Ya. Varga, N. N. Vasyagina, O. A. Karabanova, V. Satir, V. A. Sysenko, L. B. Schneider, E. G. Eidemiller). [12; 13; 19]. Within the framework of the mentioned methodological paradigm, the family self-consciousness of a men is considered as a subjective psychological reality, represents a projection of the self-consciousness of a men on the family sphere, allowing to realize oneself as a family member, a subject of family relations [2; 3; 4]. The structure of a men's family self-consciousness is represented by a set of cognitive, emotional and behavioral components, each of which includes functional and role characteristics of marital, child-parental and kinship relationships. Factor analysis of the elements that make up the content of each component, allowed to identify and describe the General features of the family consciousness of men. The research materials can be used in individual and family counseling in order to harmonize family relations.
