Abstract: Modern Russian society and the state make the parent a full-fledged subject of education and upbringing of the child. However, the duties associated with the realization of this right require parents to develop a sufficiently high level of psychological and pedagogical competence, and this is a difficulty for many parents. The problem is exacerbated in families raising children with genetic diseases. The article presents a theoretical analysis of the concept of psychological and pedagogical competence of parents, which is understood by the authors as an individual psychological formation, expressed by the unity of theoretical and practical readiness for the implementation of parental activity, based on the fundamental psychological and pedagogical knowledge and acquired practical pedagogical experience of activity, manifested in unity with personal qualities. The authors empirically identify the level and features of psychological and pedagogical competence of parents raising a child with a genetic disease. It is proved that about 70% of parents raising a child with a genetic disease have an insufficient level of psychological and pedagogical competence. They have violations in the psychosomatic field, experience frequent mood swings, show will hyperopic in relation to the child and need in psychological help. The article presents the results of formative work with parents raising a child with a genetic disease, during which the authors managed to achieve positive dynamics of development of psychological and pedagogical competence. The results of the study described in this article can be used by specialists who provide support to families raising children with disabilities, for the organization of educational, developmental and аdvisory work.
