Abstract: The article is devoted to preliminary basic concepts of solid geometry among students in grades 5–6 using the techniques of origami in terms of extracurricular activities. Based on the research, a didactic model of propaedeutics is constructed, which includes the process of forming stereometric concepts, the stages of which are taken in accordance with the “Didactic model of the process of forming geometric concepts” (the introduction stage, the stage of highlighting the full content and scope of the concept, the stage of including the concept in the system of theoretical knowledge). It is proved that within the propaedeutic course of geometry in grades 5–6, concepts are formed at the first and partially at the second stage. The authors have identified the main origami techniques and interpreted them from the point of view of geometry, developed a series of multi-level tasks (complexes of origami techniques). The relationship of origami techniques complexes with the stages of formation of stereometric concepts and types of spatial thinking is revealed. The authors use a specific example of the formation of the concept of “pyramid” to show the work of the components of the “model of propaedeutics of stereometry concepts using origami techniques”. Examples of problems (complexes of origami techniques) with pyramid models, Assembly schemes in the origami technique of various pyramids are presented. The article describes the results of approbation and individual stages of the pedagogical experiment on propaedeutics of geometry in General and stereometry in particular using origami techniques, which were studied for two years on the basis of school No. 50 Ekaterinburg in 5th grades and, respectively, in 6th grades next academic year.
