Abstract: The presented material is an analytical review of research materials devoted to the problem, which can be designated as “children in the era of digital civilization”. The author refers to the periodicals of the last five years, which presents works related to the issues of digital socialization of children. First, there is a review of articles by domestic teachers, which present the possibilities of computer games, robotics, and lego construction for the development of preschool children. These works are characterized by a normative and methodological orientation, which includes a description and guidance for conducting one or a number of classes on this topic. In addition, it provides an overview of studies conducted by Western scientists under the general title “Touchscreen tablets affect the lives of children” (2016). These studies are more systematic, instrumental, and even utilitarian: the study of the development of fine motor skills in babies in contact with a touch screen, the possibilities of cognitive development of preschoolers using tablets, etc. Realizing a certain narrowness of these studies, many of the scientists insist on the need to continue research in this area. It is in the context of these studies that one can call the work of Russian scientists S. Krylova and Yu. Vodyakha, similar in meaningful attitude and description of the research procedure itself, “Experimental study of the perception by preschoolers of computer models of real objects on touchscreen devices as three-dimensional”. Research on this topic may provide some basis for expanding and refining recommendations for the use of touch screens in working with preschool children. As a result, the analysis of the content context of the presented works leads to the conclusion that it is high time to change the position of adults in these studies from a purely research one to one that promotes the development of children, which will make this process pedagogically justified, psychologically justified, meeting current and promising trends in the development of the individual and society.
