Abstract: In the process of teaching RFL, the value of Russian anecdotes lies in the following aspects: popularization of linguistic and regional knowledge, stimulating students’ interest in learning Russian, identifying and interpreting linguistic phenomena and studying linguistic theory. As practical experience shows, the organic use of Russian anecdotes in the educational process stimulates students' enthusiasm for learning the Russian language and thereby improves the learning effect. At the same time, one should carefully approach the selection of language material. Anecdotes used in the classroom must correspond to the level of language proficiency of the students, and must also be correctly selected thematically. In addition, anecdotes make it possible to understand the peculiarities of Russian thinking and their national identity, reflecting the judgments of Russians about good and evil, their ideas about a happy life and a bright future.
