Emotional Well-being of a Junior Schoolchild in the Family: Violation of Family Up-brining and Risks of Vandalism

Abstract: The purpose of the present article is to identify the connection of the emotional well-being of the child in the context of the style of his upbringing in a family. Parent-child relationships are considered as the basis for the formation of the child's relationship with the social and material world. The article presents the ratio of different styles of family up-brining and the feature of children‘s attitude to other‘s and own property. The following empirical research methods were used: the regression analysis, as well as psychological diagnosis of primary school age children (8-9 ages, n=228) using diagnostic techniques of the emotional well-being of the child "Houses" (O.A. Orekhova) and methods of studying self-assessment based on DemboRubinstein‘s method. Parents (228 persons) were involved as experts to assess the manifestations of vandal elements in a child's behavior who have been diagnosed specifics actual parent-child relationship as described in "The survey of parental attitudes" (A.Y. Varga, V.V. Stolin). The main results is the description of the connection of the child's readiness to vandal behavior through the markers: "tendency for the destruction of objects", "preference for foreign things" and "novelty-seeking" with the specifics of the child-parent relationship established in the family. It has been found that certain parenting styles of up-brining (lack of cooperation with the child, high propensity to symbiosis with him) may contribute to the child's choice of specific destructive strategies of interaction with the objects of the material environment.
