Abstract: The article deals with the process of organization of music education of children. The main aim of the paper is to disclose the advantages of an education system (methodology) over occasional applications of certain methods in music education of children. The topic of the article is closely connected with the following dilemma: should teachers use a system (a concrete systematically realized methodology) or separate events (methodically free improvised actions) in general music education of children. The methods of investigation include analysis and generalization of material on the problem of music education of children of preschool and junior school age and of literature on introduction of event-driven approach in the process of education. The proposed methodology is based on the idea of two approaches to music education of children: an axiological one, when the process of music education is constructed with reference to regular properties of arts, and an applied one, when arts are treated as a way of achieving a goal; the idea of event-driven nature as a certain method of organization of education and upbringing of children by means of music art. As a result of the conducted research, the author formulates recommendations for the organization of music education of children as consistent and systematic teaching, the process of which includes musical events. The sphere of application of the results of the study may include theory of music education, methods of music education and practical organization of the process of music education at institutions of general education. Music education of children should be based on a concrete, consistent and gradually realized system, which may include a music event, developing the music culture of a child.
