Abstract: The article focuses on the problem of formation and development of personality in the conditions of multicultural environment. This problem is really urgent at the present stage of development of society, as the multicultural society today experiences a need for a new world outlook directed on integration of cultures and peoples for the sake of harmony and spiritual enrichment. All this proves the importance of the multicultural approach; pedagogical potential allows forming a person of culture - a creative self-motivated person capable of active and productive life in the multicultural environment. The article analyzes the concepts "multiculturalism" and "multicultural approach" and the works of foreign and domestic authors on multiculturalism of education. The author focuses her attention on several pedagogical principles of multicultural education: development of human dignity, civil consciousness and high moral qualities; education for coexistence of social groups of various races, religions, ethnos, etc.; formation of tolerance and readiness for mutual cooperation.
