Abstract: This article raises questions of quality of the additional education, efficiency of using its potential, creation of evaluation system of additional education students to meet the modern requirements. The authors have analysed the basic problems of development and implementation of the pedagogical monitoring as a mechanism for management of the quality of education. The stress is laid upon essential conditions of its introduction in teaching practice. The article presents a collection of personal characteristics of students, which are subject to estimation with regard to normative documents, regulating functioning of general and additional education; defines subjects of estimation, and establishes methods of investigation, forms and periods of result fixation. In addition, the authors pay attention to methodological support of teachers during realisation of pedagogical investigation. Practical experience of the first stage of work in one of the leading establishment of additional education in Ekaterinburg is generalised in this article. The authors emphasise prospects of subsequent activity in a given direction. The described view on the regarded problem would be interesting to specialists in the field of additional and general education as well.
