The Value and Psychological Content of Civic Consciousness in the Polycultural Educational Environment

Abstract: The change of migration flows has a great impact on all the spheres of life – it modifies the public consciousness and stimulates renewal of the system of values. These changes are especially significant for the educational system, which gradually turns into poly-cultural system. Such conditions cause the necessity to form civic consciousness of the students without regard to their motherland. Poly-cultural educational environment may cause psychological risks, in spite of the fact that it gives a lot of opportunities for socio-cultural development of a student. The risk of deficit of formation of civic consciousness is one of such risks. The article discusses the problems of the study of civic consciousness in the poly-cultural educational environment. On the basis of the analysis and systematization of the theoretical and empirical researches, the author of the article suggests the model of psychological and pedagogical content of the phenomenon of civic consciousness of senior pupils. The author also provides the classification of the psychological content of civic activity and singles out such components as cognitive, axiological, motivational and activity-driven. This classification allows to take into account the knowledge, value attitude to the phenomenon, the level and specific features of motivation, and the activities necessary to reach one’s goals. Is can be used by the school psychologist in the trainings and intensive learning programs.
